As we have seen some photos of her on the Instagram page of our featured photographer John Jobling, we immediately asked him to introduce us to this stunning young model. And here we are to provide you the opportunity to learn more about up and coming model and designer Sophia Bell in our interview with her and take a look at some of her amazing photos. |
My name is Sophie Bell and I am 23. I was born in Newcastle upon Tyne but have been moved about a lot from a young age. I now live back in Newcastle as they say you always end up back home. I am a very enthusiastic, hardworking and determined person who doesn't do things by half. I am also a very funny and outgoing person with a lively mind. Right now I am a mother to my 3 year old son but intend to go back to college next year. I am a freelance model with a years experience and also have been an extra on the famous tv program inspector George Gently and still am signed up for extra or acting parts.
Nothing I have done has meant so much to me or been my dream as much as being a model or an actress or maybe even a singer I just love to preform, I was told I could never do it off many people when I was young. I was bullied a lot when I was young from primary school to high school especially with moving from place to place and all different schools, but that's what has made me want to prove myself and all them people more and now I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere. I suffer from multiple sclerosis I was diagnosed when i was 19, which was pretty tough when also finding out a week before I was diagnosed I was pregnant with my son, My ms can be hard to live with, but I find the modelling has helped with the anxiety aspect. With ms I do suffer from depression and anxiety, but mind over matter I push myself to over come it and that's why doing modelling and acting means so much to me. You only have one life and you haven't got to let things like that get in your way. I would love to one day show and inspire people with problems like mine or worse that anything is possible, if you work hard and believe in yourself because nothing comes easy. |
Behind the scene of modelling its always good to feel comfortable and I always get on really well with my photographers as I'm a very open minded and friendly person. We do have a lot of fun and laughs, but when the pose is in place, it's all serious although we do get a couple of natural fun shots. The best shots are caught of guard when your laughing as you hate them but that's the fun side. I take modelling very seriously besides the fun and I research poses and give it my very best always and am open to suggested poses from the photographer and we tend to pick the outfits together sometimes as I have a large wardrobe. I am also open to buying new things the photographers suggests that will look great in a photo shoot.
What I love most about modelling is getting dressed up because what girl doesn't like to look at best, also just shooting and the confidence boost I get from the amazing images received at the end, Modelling has always been one of my dreams I always looked up to majour models and still do.
What’s been the highlight of your career so far? The highlight of my career has to be being on inspector George Gently and just becoming a model altogether not to mention getting to become an eventual published model which I hope one day leads to a big career in the industry. I am also overwhelmed with the response I got when I first started out and how far I've gotten now. Tell us about some of your recent shoots. I was blonde until December last year and I changed to brunette, I took a little time out befor shooting with my brown hair but my recent shoots have been amazing, possibly the best I've done so far, I defiantly think the brown hair was a good change. My first shoot with brown hair was with a photographer called Chris Harrison which was so exciting because it was the first one of me with different hair , we had lots of fun and got some amazing sets of images down ouseburn which was kind of a nature setting, The outfit choices where quite street grunge fashion. My second shoot was down the beach with a photographer Called John Jobling and the weather was amazing the outfits were an incredible choice it was quite sophisticated fashion. One of the gowns I wore in the shoot was sent to me free from a company I'm an brand ambassador for in America called playbody and we got some of the best I've seen in myself so far as my posing has come on a lot and my confidence is higher so the images are just getting higher quality the more I shoot, which I'm really proud of as it's took a long time for me to become confident in myself. |
The photographers I most enjoy working with is Chris Harrison, John Jobling and Colin Anderson they are all just incredible photographers who have given me the most amazing images, they have all been the help of giving me my confidence for sure. They all have incredible personalities as well, I always feel so at ease shooting with all of them and never a dull moment which makes it all that more comfortable and easy to work with them, they are not just amazing photographers but amazing people.
Define your personal style.
My personal style is a hard one to judge as I never stick to one style I have many, I love the street grunge look but I also have a girly style and sophisticated style, some days I'm two different styles in one. The way I see style is everyone is different and I love to change it up and each day is a different style for me, all fashion styles are beautiful and unique so why just stick to one.
I have many style muses but I have got to say I am in love with Pia Mia's style, she is a women who is a lot like me, who doesn't just stick to one style. The reason I love Pia's style so much is because the items of clothing she wears together you would never think of it meshing well but it dose and she owns it. I would describe pias style as quite hip hop, grunge and sophisticated all at once and generally all my style muses are like pia.
Your favourite designer is… ? It's really hard to chose when it comes to picking a favourite designer as they are all so very different and unique but have the most amazing designs. Back in college I use to do a lot of research in fashion and I did like the work of Alexander McQueen but right now I am in love with the work of elisabetta franchi, I am also very into wedding dress designers some of the dresses are breath taking. When it comes to designers I tend to like difference, imaginative, but also like the normal everyday street style designers it's just so hard to choose between the street style designers. |
If I had to pick between vogue or harper's bazaar it would defiantly be vogue, I have followed vogue from a young age and the outfits and the fashion is incredible and the models have been what I've looked up to my whole life. vogue is just amazing i wish I could of had the chance to be in vogue.
Is there any particular designer piece you are crushing on right now?
I am completely crushing on Elisabetta franchi milano's dress in vogue it's so beautiful, the colour the style is just breath taking and something I'd defiantly wear.
What do you hope to be doing in the next 5 years? In the next five years more than anything I would love to see myself as a successful model, actress which has always been my dream and now my goal.I hope to have a payed for home, traveled a few places especially America and also hope to give my son the most amazing life I can. If you could be anywhere else but here, where would you go? If I could be anywhere else in the world over Newcastle I would love to be in America and I have said that from being very young. |
