you might have seen her on our last Editor's Choice photo. Up and coming model Maja is just 18 years young and started working as a model by coincidence. Photographer Kurt Helge covered a music festival and shot randomly among the audience catching Maja a couple of times - somebody tagged her in the following event galleri and Kurt asked her - and her mother - for permission to do a test shoot. Learn more about Maja by following us in the interview with her.

Maja, please tell us a little bit about yourself to begin with. (How old are you, Where were you born and where do you live now?
I am 18 years old and born in Esbjerg in Denmark, where I still live today.

Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in this career?
It was actually by coincidence, that I started working as a model. Kurt Helge spotted me at a concert last year and asked, if I would like to try to take some shoots. That sounded so fun and exciting to try, so I said yes.

Have you attended fashion modeling courses?
I still go to school and I will continue reading afterwards, so I can get an education, but I think it is incredibly fascinating and exiting to work as a model. It is challenging and fun to test yourself.

Why would you think you’re fit to be a model?
I have not had so many shoots, but it’s also because of my studies. I have not received any training, but I try the best I can and do what I think is natural and fine for me.

What do you love most about modelling?
If you want to be a model, it is very important to keep being yourself and kind to other people, you also have to be able to vouch for the pictures you make afterwards. I think that is the way to get the best pictures, when it is natural and it feels comfortable for you. It is very important.

What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progress in this field?
Unfortunately I am only 1.64 high, so it is very unlikely that I can be a model in the future. It’s also one of the reasons why I enjoy the modeling work I’m doing now and I take all the experiences and lessons I learn, with me.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
The pictures I have got taken at Memphis Mansion in Randers was with several photographers. It is the first major shoot I’ve attended. Other shoots have been by Kurt Helge and we have a good working relationship.

Define your personal style.
My personal style is any tight clothes. A sweet lace top and some tight jeans or leggings.

Your favourite designer is… ?
My favorite designers are; Victoria Beckham, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Besides that, I have a big crush for accessories,  Gucci bags and tight fashion clothing.

What do you hope to be doing in the next 5 years?
I want to finish school and continue reading so I can get a good education. After that I will get a social job where I talk with people who has some problems and try my best to help them in every way.

If you could be anywhere else but here, where would you go?
I would never leave Denmark to live somewhere else. I love traveling and I like to go on holiday to some warm countries with hot climates. But I love Denmark. It is an amazing country and I could not imagine ever living anywhere else but here.
