The model story of Manuela Canosa started 12 years ago, when she was asked by a friend if she would join a bridal fashion show. Manuela was at the age of 25 at that time. Actually pretty late for start modeling, but from then on she has participated in many bridal fashion shows, was modeling at fashion fairs as CPD, Modatex, Inter Bride and others. Manuela was booked for bridal and evening wear and could also emerge in some shoots for bridal fashion catalogs and in some cases stand out as a cover model.

The presentation of wedding dresses is the dream of every little girl. So Manuela quickly had a few 'Fans' ... little girls, who adored her and wanted to be like her. What she learned out of this, is that as a model you also set an example for others and have to act accordingly.

Manuela’s model career went on with many fashion shows for well-known brands like Alba Moda, Apriori, Basler, Rosner, Hucke Berlin, Gerry Weber and others, of which she is also currently booked regularly for their shows.

Many modeling jobs she gets of the modeling agencies, where she’s listed. So she also was joining some commercials, what always is a special challenge, because filming usually last much longer than a photoshoot.

So modeling is a very extensive job. Before Manuela commits at a job, she looks at the job itself as well as at the clients very closely. She prefers to work on issues, which she can identify herself with, so she for example had a shoot for 'Die Nordsee' and she loves the North Sea very much - it draws her back there every year.

New additions include jobs as model-hostess for Apollo-Vredestein, which is a task, that Manuela likes, because it is a versatile range of things to do and she likes collaborating with people.

Finally she loves to combine, to link different tasks, e.g. acting as model, model-hostess and as natural beautician. In the last mentioned job as a beautician Manuela will make an education as Dr.Hauschka Make up Artist in October 2015. The skills, she will learn in this training, she can use in the modeling business quite well, because Manuela is standing for natural beauty.

It's just a lot of fun

The model, we like to introduce you, is living in Hannover in northern Germany and just started modeling one year ago. Aileen, as lot of people, used to take images of all moments and places, where she was, as a reminder and because it was fun. Later she found it a pity, that she wasn’t on any of these photos and began to make many Selfies, until a friend of her uploaded a photo, that was taken by a photographer.

Realizing this, Aileen informed herself, how to get some professional images of her without paying a lot of money, because she still was a pupil and the pocket money was not enough to

pay for it. So she found the German internet community ‘Model-Kartei’ with lots of photographers offering tfp-sessions (time for picture) and some of them, who were immediately interested to work with her. Today Aileen is running this as a hobby for about a year. Even she has not so much time for it cause of her normal job, she takes the time, which is left, for her newly discovered hobby. “It's just a lot of fun, it benefits all participants, you get to know a lot nice people and I’m happy about every result that comes out at the end” so Aileen.

She hopes, that she can get a lot more experience and also wants to stimulate others to just try it: “Every person is beautiful in its own way and should show it.”

We like to introduce you model Victoria Louise Holland from North East UK. According to Victoria modelling was never a dream of her, because she never thought, it was possible.

Her story is a clichéd one, so she thinks. It starts with an outsider, a girl with very low self-esteem. Victoria never thought, she was much to look at. She always thought, that she was an ugly duckling. Victoria was always been different. She never fitted in and felt “as a kid that’s the worst thing in the world”! Because she was different, when she was a kid, Victoria always had people down on her. “And when people put you down enough you start to believe it”, so Victoria. She always loved fashion and photography and quickly fell in love with quirky photographers like David La Chappelle

and designers like Galliano, but never dreamed, she could be a model. Instead Victoria fuelled her passion by studying fashion at University, helping behind the scenes on fashion shows and shoots.

Only two bits of modelling she has done at college in her photography class, but it was just on her friends’ projects and she did it, because she thought, they were desperate, not because they actually wanted her. Then in 2011 Victoria’s wardrobe mistress at the theatre, she used to volunteer at, offered up Victoria’s services as a model to photographer Paula Smart. This was the first time, Victoria really had anyone believe in her and want her to succeed and flourish in something like this. At this point in her life Victoria had realised, that she wasn’t as repulsive as she thought, when she was young. But Victoria still didn’t thought, that she had, what it took to be a model by any means. She was apprehensive, when they had offered her up, thinking, she might mess it up but she has gotten braver in her older age and thought “Hey you only live once” and Dianne is an honest woman, who’s the type of person, wouldn’t make you do something unless she thought, you were more than capable! So Victoria went out and gave it her all, had a blast and got fantastic response from Paula and everyone else on the shoot, they were all so supportive and complimentary and the photos were amazing too! Victoria was so happy!

She thought, that was a one off really, a bit of fun, something to look back on, when she was older and say “Hey I did that”. So Victoria never really pursued modelling and kept doing wardrobe on various shoots and in shows. One day she was doing the wardrobe on a shoot when the photographer Craig Devlin said, he’d like to photograph her. She has seen his work before and the type of people he’d photographed. So she was really flattered! He said “you seem to know what you’re doing!” Victoria thinks, it was because she has been helping one of the models on the shoot pose, cause she was struggling. Victoria only knew what to do because of studying fashion and being in the background for so long, seeing how models pose, walk and what they have to avoid.

It took ages for them to get snapping, as Victoria went away travelling. When she got back, she thought he would have forgotten all about her, but he still wanted to shoot! So Victoria went out with Craig and Peter Copeland for the shoot and from then on she hasn’t looked back! She has so much fun on shoots, really enjoys herself and doesn’t care, what people think of her anymore. Which is kind of ironic, because the response, she had, has been amazing and everything she got ridiculed for, when she was younger, is all the things everyone has been praising her for now. Victoria thinks, it has a lot to do with her embracing, who she is and not trying to be something, that she’s not and that comes across in her pictures. Now when a photographer asks her to do a shoot, she’s always up for it! She’s nothing to lose, doesn’t take herself too seriously and she’s pretty easy going, which she always think, helps! Victoria also is pretty versatile as well. So she doesn’t mind, doing all different things… within reason of course. “hey I’m still finding my feet! I still have a lot to discover about myself, which I’m looking forward to and this is a great way to do it!” so Victoria.

A great story of a model, never expected to be one. And the moral of the story is: “Never let anyone tell you, who you are, what you are or what you can and can’t do!” Victoria only wishes, she had done it sooner and hopes to inspire others to go out there and try their hand at something, they never thought possible ‘cause you never know where it may lead you. “If you never try you’ll never know”. Even if nothing comes of her modelling, she can live her life with no regrets and be proud of herself, saying: “look what you did, you did that you little minx!”
