Rachel Noel ... accountability partner

Another year has passed and you found yourself back at square one (for the 5th time) on losing that extra weight and increasing your overall health. Maybe you have given up and accepted your "fate" or maybe you still have some fight left in you to feel great, be confident and reach those goals you set.

Whether you have given up or you're still fighting, here are two words that will help you succeed:

Accountability Partner
An accountability partner is someone that you respect and admire, someone who knows and understands your goals and why you want to reach them and will push you beyond the limits and excuses you have given yourself. They will be your #1 cheerleader and remind you how far you have come but also motivate you on the days that you just don't feel like it. No excuses, only action!

So make a list of people you respect and admire, narrow it down to who you think would be a best fit to keep you motivated and going, give them a call and share what you're looking for, share each other's goals and get to work.

This is a new year baby and you can do it! If you need a little extra push or not sure who to call, send me an e-mail and let's do the dang thing! [email protected]

Starting only some years ago as a model in her home country, the Netherlands, today Laura Verloop is owner of the model agency Dutch Model Management in Izmir, Turkey.

We got the chance for an interview with this amazing model and agency boss and like to provide you some impressions of her work:
Laura, please tell us a little bit about yourself to begin with. (How old are you, where were you born and where do you live now, what is your profession and do you have other besides modeling business?
I'm Laura Charlie Elise Verloop, 23 years old. I was born in Holland (Nijmegen) and right now i live in beautiful Izmir (Turkey). I run my own model agency in Izmir with my partner Deniz Kurt.

How did you start in the modeling business?
I started when i was 16 years old. I was looking on the internet for photographers. I found a page and started writing them. I got a lot of positive comments and that's how the ball started to roll. I became more motivated and worked hard on my book. After 2 years of investing my time, i had enough courage to apply with an agency. It started with promotional jobs and when i was 18 i started doing direct jobs in other countries. At the age of 19 i went to Istanbul and i fell in love with the city. I understood from that point that Turkey could offer me the best opportunities.
Picture
Picture
How did you start Dutch Model Management and why?
I started Dutch Model Management 6 months ago. After modeling for years, i felt like i had to make a choice. I graduated from Hotel Management and that would be a waste not to do anything with this background. So it came to my mind to combine modeling and entrepreneurship. My boyfriend is from Turkey and he helped me a lot. I told him that i didn't wanted to leave him, so i had to continue as a model or find a regular job in Turkey. Then it came my mind of starting my own agency and run it in a 'Dutch way'. Me and my partner build it up together. Its not only 'caviar & champagne' to run your own business, but we made a nice first step. My partner owns a advertisement agency in Izmir, so this is perfect for me, because he has a lot of clients.
Picture

What’s a typical day like for a booker?

Our booker is working right next to me. She is calling to clients, emailing and updating everyone. Goes to appointments with me. She translates for me, because my Turkish is unfortunately not perfect.. Also she is writing to our girls and at the same time she is like a big sister.
Picture
Picture
How do you renew talent in such a fast-paced and competitive industry?
Me and my partner work with some agencies and they propose us beautiful girls. We find also a lot of girls on Facebook. For us measurements and face are very important, because we don't look for 'the standard' model. We need girls with size 36/38. I always choose the girls by myself and communicate this with my partner.

Is there a special formula to find the right model for a specific campaign?
It depends on what kind of campaign of course.. In Izmir we shoot a lot of dresses and bridal. We always look for a girl with a sweet and soft facial expression. The right measurements for here are: 84/90-62/67-92/97. Also energy is very important i guess. If the model has positive energy you can feel it and see it when you get the results of the pictures.

What are the changes you have seen in the industry throughout your career and what has changed?
I'm not sure if i haven't seen any changes, because i always focused on my work in Istanbul.
Do a lot of new faces come to you via social media?
Yes, that's how we most of the time approach them. It is very helpful.

What would be your definition of beauty?
My definition of beauty is a girl with a natural face, brains, positive energy, motivated and knows what she wants in life.

Any advice to give to aspiring models?
I want to tell them, not to change for anyone. If you feel happy with the way you are, you should never change it. There is a market for everyone. Besides that, dream big!
Picture
Picture
What are the rewarding aspects of your job?
Meeting amazing people. Also the fact that hard works pays off. (literally and figuratively) ;-)

Your favourite designer is… ?
Karl Lagerfeld

Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar?
Vogue!

Is there any particular designer piece you are crushing on right now?
It might sound strange, but nothing really came up. The only obsession is have are Pomellato rings. I love them! They're elegant and timeless.
Picture
Picture

What do you hope to be doing in the next 5 years?

I hope my agency will be successful. I don't want to become the biggest, as long as i have fun and run it in a structured way. Me and the girls are like family and i love this feeling. When they work, they work hard, but in home we all come together as sisters.

If you could be anywhere else but here, where would you go?
I would be in Canada to visit my family together with my dad.

Picture

She's a personal shopper, stylist, fashion and lifestyle blogger. 24 year old Moldovan blogger Mariana Nichifor is based in Moscow, Russia, now for about 4 years. We discovered her, cause her photographer, Alexander Plonsky, posted some photos, he took for her blog "The Kingdomstyle", in Streetfashion MagZZine's Facebook group. So we decided to contact her and were lucky to get an interview with her about her blog and her experiences in fashion and blogging.
Mariana, can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
I am Mariana Nichifor, a fashion, art, books and writing consumer. Blogging is my latest and the most strenuous passion. I am twenty-four years old. I was born in Republic of Moldova, a small country, but a lovely one. I have been living in Moscow for almost 4 years. Althought I studied  the International  Humanitarian Law, the fashion industry was always a part of me. Blogging is also a part of me, I like so much what I am doing and strive to do the best. “The Kingdomstyle”, I can say, was born 3 moths ago and it means style, beauty, fashion and travellings. The next year I am going to apply for a Mastery degree in Fashion History and Theory.

Describe how did you first get into blogging?
Before starting the blog I bone up on a subject. It is a long way, I follow other fashion blogs, magazines and even movies about fashion. I have another blog where I write my memories and that’s why it was a little bit easy from the technical side.

What inspired you to start your blog?
In general, fashion, art, life in big cities and travellings inspired me to start my blog. In addition to that I would like to say this is such area you can work wherever you want and you can be your own boss.
Picture
Picture

Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?
My parents blessed me with something very important and I am very thankful to them. These gifts are independence and freedom, thus I am not influenced by anybody. I can make my choices, all the more in blogging. I wanted to start a blog. So I started it.

Did you have any professional help or did you created the blog yourself?
Nobody helped me professionally to create my blog. I did the work myself. All I create is due to my  great team. They are: Alexander Plonsky, the fashion photographer, the make-up artists and my best friend, Galina Gudumac.

What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
The most challenging moment in my blogging journey was a photosession in rain that lasted a lot. At Mercedes Benz Fashion Week I forgot all the invitations at home and they were the invitations for the fashion shows. There are several moments but they can only amuse us, not challenge in any case.

Can you tell me about few sources from where you get products for review on your site?
As a rule, I work with designers. I had a wonderful cooperation with Paulina FAbrro.  At the moment I am  in touch with Modify, Arhipova.Moscow, Varvara Andreeva, Ana Pryakhina.  I'm going to work with accessories designers from Moscow.
Picture
Picture
Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites?
I hold thesartorialist.com, cocorosa.com, garancedore.com  in high regard for  the style, finesse and freedom  they deal with life style and fashion in general.

Have you met anyone interesting/famous on your blogging journey?
I think my blog isn’t famous, it’s just part of me and for everyone us fame has a different meaning.

What is the biggest difference in your life post-blogging?
In real life I am mostly  without make-up, but on the blog I have  always  make-up. In my life post-blogging I don’t wear high heeled. Moscow is a big city and high heeled footwear can be sometimes uncomfortable.

Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
Blogging is just one of my  hobbies. Despite this I apply great effort, because of my family life. My family members support me in every situation. I  owe everything to my family, especially my mother. She gifted me great intellectual powers.
Who was your first style icon?
I have  been inspired enormously by the popular British actress and model, Audrey Hepburn, through the role in the film 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'.

Who takes the majority of your photos?
I can say I am a lucky person, because I met the photographer Alexander Plonsky and all my pictures are taken by him. He is very talented.

What would you say that is the biggest challenge about fashion blogging?
The biggest challenge about fashion blogging is the fierce competition and customers. Sometimes, uninformed designer don’t realize that blogging is an important tool in promoting their business.  The blog is one of the newest tools of marketing, very effective.

How would you describe your personal style and is there a person who is a fashion inspiration to you?
I can’t say I have a single style. My favorite is casual style, but I enjoy wearing grunge, baroc boho chic or minimalist style. I like so much Rachel Zoe, her relaxed style, fringes and fluffy dresses.

What would you say that is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger? (Invitations to fashion events, interaction with people, gifts, etc.)
Invitations to fashion shows are my greatest satisfaction being a fashion blogger. Besides, I meet a lot of smart people.
Thank you for your  exciting interview. It was a pleasure for me.

We like to thank you Mariana and will follow your interesting blog also in the future.

It was difficult, but out of the submissions, we've got during the past week, we decided to show you this shooting of photographer Duško Luković with model Isidora Vučićević. Both of them, photographer and model, were already featured in Streetfashion MagZZine.
Duško wrote us the following about this session: "Since New York City became one of the major centres of the fashion industry, people all over the world are trying to capture its fashion. But something that is very difficult to do, is to capture the core and personality of The Big Apple.

Model Isidora Vučićević is one of the rare ones who succeeded in perfectly catching the soul and fashion of NYC."

Take a look at the pictures of photographer Duško Luković, taken in Čačak, Serbia with a Nikon D600 and Nikkor 80-200 f / 2.8 lens.

Thanks to both of you, Duško and Isidora, for providing us these great series of photos.

usually we get the info about a session of the photographer. Today we like to present you a special session, that is a mix out of boudoir and street and we were absoluteley impressed by the performance of model Jenny, who in this case is also the one to report about the session with photographer Markus Schlegel:
"After a long while I wanted to do a shoot, that is a kind of special. Photographer Markus Schlegel made it possible for me. We met each other on Facebook. We connected cause of his great work and a comment, that i left at one of his photos. So our cooperation and equal motivation for this project arose. I expressed my little dreams and wishes and he brought his creativity and possibilities. A short while later we both met in Wil near St.Gallen and drove up together to the municipality of Wattwil for the upcoming shooting on the 'Iburg'.
Picture

'Iburg' castle is somewhat elevated and remote and without any real visitors.
So we had free track. The session was quite relaxed since we both understood each other very well and pursued the same goal with great vigor, namely to create extraordinary pictures.

With a lot of patience and motivation we came to good results. The shooting itself was nevertheless hard work. Since it was so unusual and special, I will keep this session in very good memory for a long time. This includes the cold in the building or the hard, but also the rustic walls and floors, which are so at the end came so good in the play. A great thanks to photographer Markus Schlegel"

From our side we like to say thanks to both of you, Jenny and Markus, for leaving us the opportunity to show the photos here in Streetfashion MagZZine.

ring shoot

Currently we like to present you an extraordinary shoot of photographer Cheska Adams from Harwich, Essex UK, who has been doing photography for 7 years now. She started out doing landscapes, but now enjoys people photography from glamour, family portfolios and celebrities to sports. Cheska works for a local wrestling team in Harwich from the very start, when they took off. She loves what she is doing and likes capturing moments to treasure them forever.
Picture
In the already mentioned session Cheska took a couple of photos of Harry Mant, an up and coming man from Harwich, who according to Cheska will go very far with his  career in wrestling.
Picture
Harry is 19 years old and studies film and creative writing at the University of Essex, England. About five months ago he got into professional wrestling. A few months into hard training Harry was awarded with his first pro match against former British Progress Wrestling Champion Pastor William Eaver.

"The feeling was indescribable, being in the ring wrestling, which has always been the dream of mine, was unreal and the adrenaline rush was insane. I decided to get into wrestling to achieve my childhood dream, raised in a family with 3 brothers, who loved wrestling and we would wrestle in the house, garden and the local parks".
Harry fell in love with it from a young age and he plans to keep going and wrestling some of the best names around the world. Of course the ultimate goal is WWE, so who knows what the future will hold. We wish you luck to achieve your goal Harry.

Thanks to Cheska for sharing these amazing photos with us here in Streetfashion MagZZine.

a photo session with Karoline

photographer Joakim Fransson you might already know out of our feature about him in July. Now he is sharing with us some photos out of his last work for ACQUO of Sweden, a manufacturing company for elegant hunter boots in a perfect new style. The more interesting this shoot is, since he work together with model Karoline Davidsson, who we also featured in July. We asked Joakim about the session:
"Well me and Karoline planned a photoshoot for ACQUO of Sweden in my small studio, because we needed new photos. At the start of ACQUO´S instagram we posted to many photos and i mean to many. Almost every picture, we took during my first photoshoot, we had posted. So then we had to post old photos on Acquo´s instagram. At that time i decided, that it's not a good idea to post around 4-10 photos in just one day. 2-3 photos is good enough. Karoline and me planned a small photoshoot in my studio, which is kinda small, but it works!
I wish i could have all the beautiuful expensive gear, that big studio photographers have, but i don't have the space sadly. So it's kinda sad, but at the same time i'm actually glad, i have a small studio in my own living room.

So we shot some pictures for Karolines official Facebook page, but we also thought, that we were needing some new photos for ACQUO as well. So we asked Jessica, the head chief over ACQUO, if Karoline could borrow some boots and the ACQUO bag. Jessica told it to be okay. So we shot pictures for almost an hour, not any longer. I was switching lenses at that time back and forth from Canon 50mm 12.8 STM & Canon EF 70-200 L USM f/4. 2 Great studio lenses, but that also works great for portrait and much more!

There's not really a huge background story about this photoshoot. It's simply as i told: I asked Karoline, if she wanted to take some new pictures to her Facebook page, but also asked, if we should take some with ACQUO as well and she thought it was a great idea!
Picture
The boots look really good on her and everything fits so perfect with those Jeans, a red leather jacket and the ACQUO boots! I actually love leather myself, but i don't like to wear it. But i like woman in leather/latex clothing! It's very sexy and when such a gorgeous Model as Karoline wears it, it's perfect.
Picture
She is born to be a model! And i think she gonna be big one day and with big i mean a model agency will work with her. I sure hope so! Because in front of the camera she's a boss! You can realize, that she loves modeling just by seeing her pictures. She's not only my model. We are friends. In ACQUO we are like a big family. I believe i'm the youngest in the family, haha! I turn 24 in December, now the 14th December. So only a few years left until i can call myself old, when i turn 30, haha.

For the shoot i used a Canon EOS 6D with the Canon EF 50mm 1.8 STM and Canon EF 70-200 L USM f/4 lenses as well as a Visico VL-200 Plus (contains 2 small softboxes 50x70 cm).
It's a great small studio kit, that works perfect in small spaces! But i also have another flash pointed at the white background on the left in my studio, because i don't want to get that black shadow. I want to keep my background all white."
Thank you Joakim for providing us a little glimpse into your photo world with the information about this session and its background. We love the photos and expect, that Karoline as well as ACQUO are also very satisfied with them.

Bri's Spotlight - sand and tits

28/9/2016

Hi, I'm Briana. Maybe you've already read my Spotlights in FASHION ZZ and BEAUTY ZZ. Since leaving New York my life has taken a turn for the better ... physically, spiritually  and mentally!

Going to New York, I was nervous. If people in Tampa were selective people, in New York they were going to be hard to tackle. Indeed they treated me as if i was a queen! Constant compliments and actual help ... not just from designers, assistants, and press, but also from the models!

In contrast to New York in some Florida markets it’s always a competition. My Goal is to bring a different set of standards to Florida Modeling world. Truluv Media and the Florida Central Creatives were founded to support anyone, who has felt as though they were not good enough ... including small business, local artists and charitable communities. We are here to root you on!
Picture

Looking back to the time after taking on Miami and getting signed at my very first casting for a mother agency, I remember what one scout specifically  told me: "GO TO NEW YORK ...  YOU WILL THRIVE!

Having Florida funds and not NYC funds, I moved north east to Orlando. Orlando inspired me to do something more than posing in front of a camera for facebook likes. Now i'm hosting and coordinating runway shows, apprenticing under bridal designers and scouting models for a local agency.
Picture

The grim reality
is, that fashion world is very cut throat. I began my modeling career in Dallas. There I learned, that I was in an “in demand market” regularly booked for shoots and runways. Three months into seriously modeling I moved to Tampa, Florida, and noticed, that the market for someone like me was non existent. I joined several Florida modeling networks and realized the models killing the game in this region were shorter unconventional  looks. Not that I have anything against them, but i was flooded  with bikinis, sunsets and sand.

My body was not ready for this. I had to work really hard. I am not one of those skinny girls. I like to enjoy life. I have a voluptuous body. I eat in moderation and I take care of myself. Especially considering, i'm constantly battling the 60 lbs, i lost about three years ago.

For the life of me i was stuck doing TFP shoots. I realized being older, darker and shapelier, that my modeling career may be at a hault.  Fueled with angst, I decided to begin “branding” myself to prove i was good enough to hang in the Florida markets.

Fast forward  about 8 months and I started to become really numb to the amount of “nos”. I started getting used to not receiving edits back or people just ignoring me in general. I could shock you with the amount of discouraging stories throughout my last year, but no one likes to read a ridiculously long blog.

It’s no secret, that the media has made a big deal out of youth. Think about it: How many people have you heard say, “Gosh, I can’t wait to get wrinkles!” Worldwide selling the idea of youth has made many companies billions of dollars.

If you plan on being in the fashion and runway field, the younger you are the better. The longevity for this type of modeling is extremely short for the majority of models involved. Agencies sign girls as young as 13 years old and tend to hesitate if a model is over 18.
Picture
Picture
This topic, like the height issue, is a reality of the industry, that you don’t have to agree with, but you will have to accept or at least get used to it. It’s just a plain fact, that agencies and their clients can get more work out of youthful models than those who already show the signs of aging.

When it comes to youth and modeling, it doesn’t make sense to invest time and money in signing a model, that is say 22 or 23. That particular model may only have a good 2-3 years, before they start showing signs of aging like crow’s feet or other fine lines. This means more time devoted to photoshopping and special lighting. No agency wants to deal with that.
Picture

persistancy like practice pays off
. Some models do work their way into modeling. I have also heard models say, that modeling is hard work and all models work their way into the business. These models track down test shoots and put together their comp cards and portfolios. They study and practice being a model by working on their expressions, posing, runway walking, hair styling, makeup, working in front of a camera, and learning how the business works. These models may work freelance or have nonexclusive contracts with a number of modeling agencies.
Remember the story of the three blind men describing an elephant? One man felt the trunk, another felt the tail, and the third felt the leg. Each had a different description of what the elephant was like. The modeling industry is the same way. The modeling industry is big and has many specialty areas. What I've experience, will be much different what others experience, but at the end of the day you have to do what makes you happy!

feel free to leave your stories (good or bad) to be featured!

autumn in Sweden

today we like to show you the photos out of a session of Sweden based photographer and retoucher Misho Jovicic. Misho was born and raised in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is living in the south of Sweden today. He's 34 years old, husband and father of a wonderful 5 year old girl and owner of a beautiful Golden retriever. Besides Bosnian and Swedish he also speak English and Spanish. He fall in love with photography when he was living and studying in Spain. He graduated with a Master degree of Arts in Blindness and Low Vision Therapy. Currently he is working as a photographer and when he has his eyes on the viewfinder, he really feels as he is seeing a whole new world! He loves natural light, shooting outdoor and in abandoned houses, but also works a lot in his studio! The retouching he is doing with Photoshop CC.
Picture
The photos, we are showing you, are out of Misho's first time working with model Emma Skytte, and, so Misho "it’s always so great to work with new people". Makeup and stylist Ester Farre has done great job matching neutral fall colors with a photo session. The casual outfit inspired by the Swedish autumn with its beautiful muted colors! They have choosen a beautiful location placed in southern Sweden, in the park of Alnarp Castle, build in the 12th century
Picture
Misho tries always to shoot wide open with his favorite lens, a Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM with natural light. But especially this session was an exception. Here he used a speedlite through diffusion to achieve balance between natural and artificial light to lift the shadows and give some extra sharpness, but simultaneously getting bokeh!

Congrats to Misho for these great photos and thanks for sharing it with us.

urban shoot with shopping cart

15/8/2016

Often it is by coincidence, when we discover a photo or a group of photos out of a session. It is the same with this shoot of Justin Bonaparte, a photographer from Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Streetfashion MagZZine featured him this year in April. Since then we follow him on Flickr and so discovered this interesting shoot with model Brianna Swing. We spontaneously decided to share it with you and asked Justin to tell us the story of this shoot. Here it is together with several of the photos:
Picture
"So, it was late on Friday and I hadn't made any plans to shoot for the weekend. I decided to browse through modelmayhem and see if anyone was up for a last minute shoot on Saturday evening. I saw Bree's profile and was intrigued by her look ... she had several facial tattoos and piercings. I don't shoot models with alternative looks very often, but she was tall (I like to bend people) and had a great face, so I sent her a message, along with five or six others. When I got up the next morning and saw she had responded with interest, we started thinking of where we could shoot. She wanted an urban look, so we decided to go uptown.
Picture

We met near the center of Charlotte, and my 11 year old daughter tagged along (mostly just to get away from her brothers and sister for a while). I told her that if she came, I was going to put her to work, so she carried equipment and VALed for me, as well as peppering me with questions about what was going on uptown. She did a great job, though.

Picture
Picture
For this shoot, I used my two Olympus E-M5s (mkI and mkII). Since I use primes, it's easier to put one on each rather than switching lenses on one body. I also employed a Rovelight 600B thru an umbrellabox on a lightstand. Since it was late in the day, we had good shade (summer temperatures have been brutally hot) between the buildings. As we were walking around finding shooting locations, we came across an empty shopping cart. I love props, so in went Bree, and I snapped away! At over 6 feet tall, she has long, posable legs, and we made great use of them. She was even able to squeeze into the cart entirely! As the sun went down, we found a small park and I decided to backlight her with natural rim light and used the Rovelight as main. I really love those shots, the combination of different lighting tones give them a very unique look.
Picture
Picture

We spent about two hours shooting, then packed it up and said our goodbyes when the sun finally set. Bree is a total sweetheart, and really does well posing her hands and arms about her body, something many models struggle with. Hopefully we'll get to shoot again soon!"

Thank you Justin for allowing us to share the photos and especially for the intersting story around this shoot.
