We took the chance to discuss this major event, which was seen by more than 111 million people all over the world, with our photographer from Texas, Tim Bear, and asked him to do some modelshoots related to American football. So in the last days Tim and his colleague John Hitt took some fantastic football pictures for us. Thank you for your efforts, gents. |
In April 2014 Tim pursued his dream of taking his photography business to the next level by acquiring Modelemi. Tim’s love for photography was only part of why he started this business. His real motivation is to provide a safe forum for models and other industry professionals to network. Tim’s vision for Modelemi is to revolutionize the industry by making available tools to be successful such as an industry specific magazine and opportunities to market and promote through the website. Tim brings 20 years of photography plus 20+ years of business management.
| As we were discussing this big event and looking to get some more inside to football and especially the Super Bowl itself, Tim introduced us to another photographer, Pat Carrigan, owner of FirstDownPhotos. Pat is a retired Texas High school Football, Track and Science Teacher. He graduated from Burnet, Texas High School and attended Angelo State University receiving a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology and Biology and receiving a Masters Degree in Educational Administration. |  photo: John Hitt | model: Megan Tate |
Pat Carrigan was a Texas High School Football and track coach for 36 years at various high schools in Texas and taught in the Texas Juvenile Correctional Prison System for the state of Texas. He was USA Track and Field Certified Masters Track and Field Certified and has worked many track meets including the State UIL Track Meet for 30 years as well as the NCAA and the USA Olympic Trials. His father was in the Navy and they traveled during Pat’s youth. He took a lot of pictures during their travels and that’s where he picked up Photography. Pat is primarily a sports photographer, but he has also photographed weddings, models, landscapes, architecture, and advertizing. He has been published in various publications including Texas Football, Lynx Timing Systems, Little League International, High School Annuals and different websites.

No one on the planet plays football like we do. No One. Football is woven into the fabric of our culture like the bill of rights. Other countries have soccer, basketball, tennis and other sports. But football is ours, no one else's. Professional football, college football, high school football, pee-wee football is all important to our culture and our country like nothing else. And the Super Bowl is the ultimate football game on the planet.
This year the Super Bowl featured 2 teams with very different histories. The Denver Broncos joined the American Football League in 1960 as one of its founding members. They were absorbed into the NFL in the merger of 1970.
The Broncos won the first-ever AFL game over the Boston Patriots 13–10, on September 9, 1960. On August 5, 1967, they became the first-ever AFL team to defeat an NFL team, with a 13–7 win over the Detroit Lions in a preseason game. The Broncos were the only original AFL team, that never played in the title game, as well as the only original AFL team never to have a winning season while a member of the AFL during the upstart league's 10-year history. They have appeared in 8 Super Bowls winning 3 and losing 5. All 5 loses were not close but John Elway did finally win 2 Super Bowls after many years of falling short. And the Broncos are best remembered for John Elway and "The Drive" in the AFC Championship Game in 1987 vs the Cleveland Browns.
The Carolina Panthers have a much shorter history having joined the NFL in 1995 as an expansion team along with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team finished its inaugural season with a 7–9 record, the best performance ever from a first-year expansion team. They performed even better in their second season, finishing with a12–4 regular season record and winning the NFC West division, as well as securing a first-round bye. The Panthers beat the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round before losing the NFC Championship Game to the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Green Bay Packers. The Panthers improved to 11–5 in the 2003 regular season, winning the NFC South and making it to Super Bowl XXXVIII before losing to the New England Patriots 32–29 in what was immediately hailed by sportswriter Peter King as the "Greatest Super Bowl of all time". King felt the game "was a wonderful championship battle, full of everything that makes football dramatic, draining, enervating, maddening, fantastic, exciting" and praised, among other things, the unpredictability, coaching, and conclusion. The game is still viewed as one of the best Super Bowls of all time, and the Panthers' Super Bowl appearance represented the arrival of Charlotte onto the national scene. The Panthers are 0-2 in Super Bowls with 2 appearances.
This year's silver anniversary game featured 2 very contrasting styles. The Broncos relied on great defensive play, leading the league in total defense while the Panthers featured the NFL MVP Cam Newton and a league leading 500 points scored for the 2016 season. The keys to the game were, could the Panthers offensive line keep the pass rush off Cam Newton, could the Carolina receivers find openings vs the Denver secondary and could Peyton Manning and the Denver offense put up enough points to outscore the Panthers. The primary key was, could the offensive tackles handle the 5 techniques of Denver man to man or would they need tight end help or back help chipping the defensive ends. The left tackle for Carolina was Michael Oher of "The Blind Side" movie fame. This would put fewer receivers in the pattern. Also the Panthers had a 100 yards rushing in 31 straight games. This helps the passing game in play action passing by holding the linebackers and opening up receiver route lanes on crossing patterns and opens up the middle under the safeties. As stated above the Denver defensive ends played well and kept constant pressure on Cam Newton. Forcing 4 total fumbles and 1 interception by the Panthers. Two Cam Newton fumbles were devastating. The first one caused by DE Von Miller rolled into the end zone and was recovered by Malik Jackson for a touchdown. The second was, when Newton was sacked at Carolina 16 for -9 yards by Von Miller. Newton fumbled at the Carolina 18, and was recovered by Denver's T. J. Ward at the Carolina 9 and took it to the Carolina 4 where he was tackled by Mark Remmers. C.J Anderson scored on a 2 yard run to push the Denver lead to the final score of 24-10 after a Peyton Manning pass to Brian Fowler for the 2 point conversion.

The game was a struggle of turnovers and was defensively dominated by both teams, with the Colts winning 16-13 on a Jim O'Brien field goal with 5 seconds left after a Craig Morton pass bounced off of Dan Reeves and was intercepted by the Colts Mike Curtis. It is the only Super Bowl in which the Most Valuable Player Award was given to a member of the losing team: Cowboys linebacker Chuck Howley, who intercepted two passes. Just like this Super Bowl where the MVP was awarded to defensive end Von Miller with 2.5 sacks, 6 tackles, 1 pass defended, and 2 quarterback hits. Denver had 194 yards total offense, the lowest offensive output of any Super Bowl Champion. Peyton Manning had a qbr of 56.6 while Cam Newton had a qbr of 55.4. Both ratings are pretty poor. In the end as in 90% of all games turnovers play the biggest part in winning. 90% of the teams win, when they win the turnover battle. The Panthers had 4 turnovers while Denver had 2. It wasn’t a pretty game in a league, which has made many rule changes to increase scoring. The dominance of Denver's defense holding the Panthers to 10 points and causing 4 turnovers cannot be understated.

| But as enthusiastic Pat may be, we also liked to know, how our models celebrate or think about football. Lydia Underhill, who was the first to answer, answered us the following: „When I think about the Superbowl two things come to mind: Sunday parties with little football-shaped appetizers, and advertisements. I majored in marketing so I am always attracted to the commercials and get more excited for them than for the actual game. I’ll even go back afterwards(or for the past few years watch them ahead of time) and rewatch/dissect each one. As for the game itself, it’s entertaining to hang out with my friends and see them get excited for this team or that, but I personally don’t typically care who wins. I’ll pick a team to root for, but I usually know nothing about that team other than what their mascot is.“ |  |
