We discovered an extraordinary photo of her on Instagram and then had a look at her portfolio. We were not just impressed by her appearance in front of the camera, but also of her incredible attitude and asked her for an interview. She agreed and here we go to introduce you up and coming model Tamara Kraus with an interview and several fascinating photos of her. Tamara, please tell us a little bit about yourself to begin with. (How old are you, Where were you born and where do you live now, What is your profession and do you have other besides modeling? I'm 19 years old. I'm born in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, a small town in Bavaria (Germany). Since last year I'm studying Marketingcommunication and Advertising in Pforzheim. A bigger town about 300km away from my birthplace. So I moved to Pforzheim to live in living community and in the near of the business school. But I come home mostly every weekend to visit my friends and parents. |
What do you love most about modelling?
I love the community. It's a very special community consisted of models and photographers. I firstly came into it by participating on a photo walk in Nuernberg. An event where models and photographs meet, talk and take photos on the streets. This community is so kind and tolerate, everyone can be a model that's what they stand for.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
Of course all shootings are something special and everyone is different, so it's hard to describe a single one as the highlight of my career.

But definitely one of my highlights was to participate in the "Ballerina Project by Steven Blechvogel". That's a Germany wide project with different ballerinas, with different education levels in ballet. For this shooting I drove to Leipzig, the most far town I drove for a shooting. It is an honor for me to be in this project! It's planned to get an exhibition with all those ballerina pictures and also a book will be released. Also a calendar for 2018 is on the market, in which a picture of me is included.
Tell us about some of your recent shoots. After a long pause I made because of my exams and the very small free time because of them, I used my holidays to shoot new pictures. About one month ago I was booked for a workshop, that means there are photographs come to a studio and going to be thought, how to set up the light and their camera. I'm there for modeling so they don't have to shoot an empty room. That workshop shooting differs a lot from normal shoots, because you have to hold a pose longer till the amateur photographer gets all settings right. And also not you and your personality is in the foreground as it is by normal shoots. But I think it's a good opportunity for those photographs to improve their skills and often they are afraid of asking models for a shoot, so they come to those workshops where they now a model is already booked. |
Another recent shooting I had in the ballet studio, where I learn ballet since 16 years now. It's very comfortable to shoot in a place which you already know and feel more free than in a photographer's studio. Also the photograph who came there did an amazing job and the pictures are wonderful.
What really goes on behind the scenes as a model?
That's hard to answer, because what is behind the scenes? Maybe the messages you get from different photographers and other dubious people? There are many messages, which I don't even answer because I know those people want everything but not a professional shoot. I always wonder how offensive these people are towards a foreign women.
Which photographers in the industry do you most enjoy working with?
I enjoy working with all photographs I worked with, if not the pictures won't be that great as they are! I can not name single ones because they are all very talented and nice persons. Define your personal style. My personal style is a mixture of very basic and comfortable things and sometimes a little highlight in it. I'm not a person who goes with every trend and always have the newest clothes you could have. I like to dress up for special events, but my everyday look is very casual. Often I find clothes pretty but I never wouldn't wear it myself because it won't fit me and my style. Who would you say is your 'style muse'? Like I said before I don't go with the style which is in or presented now, so I can't name a person. Your favourite designer is… ? I'm not into high fashion so I'm sorry I can't tell one. Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar? I never bought one of them .... Shame on me ;) Is there any particular designer piece you are crushing on right now? Not really. |
What do you hope to be doing in the next 5 years?
I hope I can finish my studies and get a good job in a company I like. For modeling I hope I can do a lot more shoots with more excellent photographs and maybe get cool modeling jobs.
If you could be anywhere else but here, where would you go?
I definitely would go to are warm and sunny place! I'm a big fan of Egypt so maybe I would go there.
