We discovered a photo of her on Instagram and then had a look at her portfolio. We were impressed by her attitude and her beauty. So we asked her for an interview. We were lucky ... she agreed and here we go to introduce you up and coming model Helene Luisa-Maria Bauer with an interview and several photos of her. Helene, please tell us a little bit about yourself to begin with. (How old are you, Where were you born and where do you live now, What is your profession and do you have other besides modeling? I'm currently 19 years old, born and living in Germany, but in this summer I'm moving to Paris for an au pair year and after this I'll do another gap year in the USA and afterwards I'll go back to Paris to study there. So right now I'm a student, doing my A-levels and I model in my free time when there is a good chance with pursuing my ideas as well. |
What do you love most about modelling?
I love the most about modeling, that it can make people change their way of looking at themselves. Before this I sometimes had self esteem problems but to see that I'm looking beautiful and others consider me as beautiful makes those problems disappear. Moreover photography and modeling is for me art and I've got a great passion for creative things. I love to pursue my ideas, sometimes crazy ones.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
The highlight of my career was that I walked once on the Fashionweek in Berlin and that I constantly get requests from awesome photographs, Henry Tornow e.g. is my favorite one, because with him I can pursue the craziest stuff and he's super professional.
And that I could make a professional Haut Couture shoot in the dresses of Aziz, and I fell totally in love with one of the wedding dresses!

Tell us about some of your recent shoots.
One of my recent shoots has been in a secret location, in a castle, where I've worn different special dresses, we've been 2 photographers and three models and shooted the whole day, it's been super cold there but worth it, because the results were super satisfying! Another one has been with colourful smoke in a lost place and in the nature, this was super fun and exciting! |
What really goes on behind the scenes as a model?
Behind the scenes it's important for me to prepare myself, this means, that I've to do first some crazy pictures in an exaggerated way so the "normal" pictures have another look, with more fire. Moreover the photographer gives often some comments and some personal talks and jokes shouldn't left as well, because I prefer shootings with positive vibes and fun! This makes the pictures looking way better.
Which photographers in the industry do you most enjoy working with?
The photographers I enjoyed most working with was, as I already said, Henry Tornow, because I love the way his pictures look, his open hearted way and literally anything! Another one is "Bildhaftes", her photos are really lovely and tender, I had one of my first shootings with her and she's been super nice as well.
Define your personal style. My personal style is a really widespread. There are days where I prefer the darker RockNRoll-style and others, where I'm wearing just cute looking dresses. But generally I prefer classy stuff, where are no big prints on it, where the shape is special and the material. I'm absolutely not going with the trend, I'm always wearing where I feel beautiful in and what I consider beautiful, mostly in the colours black, white, rosé, beige and brown-green. Who would you say is your 'style muse'? My personal style muse is my friend Paula Omosefe, her style is super unique and she's making sometimes some clothes herself, she has always an alternative but high fashion style and I'd love to have her sense of style. Her creativity is reflected on her style as much as on her art and I adore that! Your favourite designer is… ? My favorite designer here is Aziz Harbak, he once worked by Ellie Saab and his dresses are so stunning and overwhelming! There are no borders for his ideas and this impresses me all the time! He's a refugee here in Germany and does a wonderful job with sharing his wonderful fashion with the world. Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar? Vogue |
Is there any particular designer piece you are crushing on right now?
Yeah, My personal fashion-crush is the vintage lace dress but I sadly never found the disgner to this dress, I just saw it spreading through tumblr, but I never found a shop or responsible for it so unfortunately I can't give you more informations about it.
What do you hope to be doing in the next 5 years?
In the next 5 years I hope I better my French skills and learn Spanish, moreover I hope I'll spend a great time in Paris and California and that I'm studying successfully psychology and that my modeling career continues in Paris (I already got an agency).
If you could be anywhere else but here, where would you go?
I'd go to Djerba right now to ride on the back of the beautiful Arabian stallions there at the beach or I'd be crazy and go to the Jungle, because I always wanted to see the nature there!
