If you have read our first print magazine which we published in Febrary this year, you are already familiar with French photographer Christophe Amar. Today, we are taking you back to a beautiful summer day in July on another photo shoot with Christophe. This time he captured French model Virginie Olibot-Lorenzi in a local park in Salignac, a small village in the south-east of France.

”Virgine and I had been in contact via Facebook and Instagram for some time already, when it was finally possible to meet for a photo shoot in July. I had noticed photos she had taken with other photographers, and I liked the style, and thought that we might be a good creative fit.
Talking about a place and theme for the shoot, I had already gathered some ideas and suggested them to Virginie. However, Virginie suggested a theme and place that was close to her heart – a sports-inspired outdoor shooting at the citypark in Salignac. I hadn’t been there before and since I am always up for a challenge and like to improvise, I immediately agreed.
When we talked about possible outfits, we quickly noticed that we were on the same wavelength on this topic, so I told Virginie to just choose outfits that she likes, and to just have fun. Some of the ideas we shared were, for instance, ripped jeans, bodysuits and heels, and since it was summer, cold weather wouldn’t be an issue. Burning sun, however, we had to deal with but we were sure to find a few spots in the shadow to keep cool.

On the big day, we met at our spot, the citypark of Salignac. Just Virginie and me because I work very simply, just me, my camera (canon EOS 6D), and my favorite lens ( gun 70-200 F4 L). I sometimes also take my other lens (canon 24-70 F4 L IS) but I don't use it often, because in the end I prefer editing my photos taken at 70-200, and I also feel like I take better photos with that one leading to fewer ’bad’ photos which eventually, I would have to delete.
So no light other than natural light, no reflector, diffuser, and for the model, no hairdressing assistant, makeup, no stylist. Just a simple tfp (time for picture) collaboration between two people sharing the same passion who above all want to have a good time, and incidentally take pretty pictures. In the end, it was a great session. Virginie and I immediately clicked professionally and creatively, and we really like the photos we took. Also, whether it's humanely, artistically or technically, I feel like I've done one of my best photoshoots." |
Why ZZ Loves It
Creative Poses
It was a lot of fun choosing the photos to publish in this article, but let us tell you - it wasn't easy! In almost every photo that was submitted by the two, Virginie offered a different pose. Whether she just casually leaned against a wall or made use of the basketball or playground - she definitely (and literally!) bent over backwards to give the photos that certain 'something' that we are always striving to find.
We shouldn't forget mentioning thought that it always takes two to tango, and while Virginie is not actually dancing in any of the photos, it does take a lot of communication, coordination and trust between the photographer and the model to be able to dare to try something new and, eventually, to successfully capture the pose. We think, Christophe and Virginie have done an excellent job and showed that it's possible to take great pictures with just a little creativity and fun.
